Drambuie is made from a unique blend of the finest scotch whiskies, many of which are 15-17 year old single malts, a hint of heather honey and a secret recipe of herbs and spices.
One of the world's great liqueurs, Drambuie is based on the finest Scotch whisky. To use fifteen-year old malts for turning into liqueur may seem like sacrilege, but in the case of Drambuie the end justifies the means. The name comes from the Gaelic an dram buidbeach, 'the drink that satisfies'. Legend has it that the recipe was given to the Mackinnon family by Bonnie Prince Charlie, for saving his life after the collapse of the Scottish clans' rebellion of 1745.
